1. Who is responsible

The publisher of Gapball, and the controller under the GDPR, is:

Pedram Khoshdani
Klaustaler Str. 28
10589 Berlin
Germany
Email: info@appizor.com

The full provider details are in the legal notice (Impressum).

This policy covers the Gapball app for iPhone (App Store) and for Android (Google Play).

2. The short version

  • Gapball has no account and no sign-in. We do not run a server for the game. On Android there is an optional Google Play Games leaderboard (section 7); playing never needs it.
  • Your level, settings and an unfinished match are saved only on your phone.
  • We do not use an analytics service, and the app sends us nothing.
  • The game shows ads from Google AdMob between matches. The ad software collects some device data (section 4). In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it starts only after you agree in Google's consent form. If you do not agree, it does not start at all.
  • The “Full game” purchase is handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.

3. What the app saves on your phone

These items stay in the app's own storage on your phone. They are not sent to us or to anyone else, and they are deleted when you delete the app.

WhatWhy
Your settings: sound, vibration, gap line, more time to aim, left hand, commentary, color-blind mode, reduced motion, language, colors, field and arenaTo keep your choices.
Your level and what it opened: level, losses on this level, the easier retry, arenas, paper styles, balls, your chosen ball, whether the tutorial is done, the 2-player step, the ids of your last 20 matchesSo your progress stays, and each match counts once.
An unfinished match: its moves, its start number (seed) and its clock, plus a small clock note while you aimSo you can continue a match after the app was closed. Deleted when the match ends.
Ad counters: finished matches, matches since the last ad, the time of the last adSo ads keep the spacing described in the store listing.
Which first-time tips you have seenSo tips are not repeated.
Whether you bought the Full game, and whether you opened the store pageSo the purchase is remembered.
Copies of the game's sound files and the commentator's clips in one cache folderTo play sounds. The clips are files that come with the app. The app does not use the microphone and records nothing.
Your answer in Google's consent form (only in versions with ads)Kept by Google's consent software so the form does not ask again (section 4).

Storing these items is needed for the game you asked for to work (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR; section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).

4. Ads (Google AdMob) and the consent form

We show one full-screen ad between matches, never during a match, through the Google Mobile Ads SDK. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (for users in the EEA and Switzerland), and Google LLC, USA, elsewhere.

The consent form. When you start the game, the app asks Google whether a consent form must be shown where you are, and loads it if needed. This is Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Your IP address is sent with this request, as with every internet request. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland the form asks whether Google and its ad partners may store and read information on your phone and use data for ads. It lists the purposes and the partners. “Do not consent” is as easy as “Consent”. Where the form applies, you can open it again and change your choice at any time: Settings > Privacy options.

If you do not agree, the app does not start the ad software at all. You see no ads, and no ad data is collected.

If you agree (or if Google says no consent is needed where you are), the ad software starts and loads ads. According to Google it collects:

  • your phone's IP address, which may be used to estimate your general location,
  • interactions with the app and the ads (for example app starts, taps, video views),
  • diagnostic and performance information (for example start time, crashes of the ad software),
  • device identifiers: on Android the advertising ID and the app set ID; on iPhone identifiers limited to this app or developer, and the advertising identifier only if you allow it in Apple's “Allow apps to track” prompt.

Google uses this data to show and measure ads, for analytics and to prevent fraud. The data is encrypted in transit. Google's information: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, section 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time in Settings > Privacy options; this does not affect ads already shown.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads; iPhone: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking).

5. The “Full game” purchase

The Full game (it removes the ads and adds 3 more fields) is bought through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). Apple or Google handle the payment under their own privacy policies. The app only learns that the purchase was made or restored, and saves that on your phone. We do not receive your name, payment details or address. Prices are shown by the store.

Legal basis: performance of the purchase contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

6. No analytics, no account, no server

The app contains no analytics service and no crash reporting of our own, on iPhone or on Android. We see only the summary numbers that Apple and Google give every developer (for example downloads, and crash reports if you agreed to share them with developers in your phone's settings). There is no account, no chat and no online play. The only online feature is the optional leaderboard on Android (section 7). The app reads no contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone.

7. Google Play Games leaderboard (Android only)

On Android the game has a “Highest level” leaderboard through Google Play Games Services. Playing never needs a sign-in. If you tap the leaderboard and sign in to Google Play Games, the app sends your highest level to Google, and Google shows it under your Play Games profile and name. The app does not sign you in on its own, and it sends nothing to Google before you have signed in. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (for users in the EEA and Switzerland), and Google LLC, USA, elsewhere; Google processes this data under Google's privacy policy. We receive no personal data from the leaderboard. You can sign out of Play Games or hide the game in the Play Games app at any time. On iPhone there is no leaderboard.

Legal basis: performance of the feature you chose (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

8. Children

Gapball is made for teens and adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. (In Germany, consent to data processing for online services needs a parent's agreement under 16; Google's consent form handles the ad consent.)

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent. We hold no data about you on our side, so most requests concern Google's ad data: you can manage it with your choice in the consent form, your phone's ad settings and Google's own tools. Deleting the app deletes everything it saved on your phone. You may also complain to a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live, or the one for our place of business: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin.

10. Changes

If the app starts to collect new data (for example online play in a later version), we will update this policy and the date above before that version is released.

11. This website and email

How this website (appizor.com) handles data, and what happens when you email us, is explained in sections 2 and 3 of the privacy policy for this website.
